Chandler Challenge – Showing Up and Doing the Work

This past weekend, our athletes competed at the Chandler Challenge and put together a strong showing. Everyone arrived prepared, followed their game plans, and represented our dojo well on and off the mat.

Competition is where training gets tested, and this event was a good example of that. Matches were focused, effort was consistent, and athletes handled both wins and losses with composure. That’s what progress in judo actually looks like—steady, disciplined, and built over time.

Beyond individual matches, events like the Chandler Challenge highlight what makes the judo community unique. Athletes support one another, respect their opponents, and share the mat with people who all chose to challenge themselves in the same way. It’s a competitive environment, but it’s also a welcoming one.

Thinking About Competing

For students who are newer to judo or considering their first tournament, this is what competition really is. You show up, compete within your division, and gain experience in a structured, supportive setting. You don’t need to be exceptional to compete—you just need to participate. Every confident competitor started exactly there.

Proud to Coach This Team

Proud of how our athletes showed up this weekend and represented both their training and the broader judo community. We’ll take what was reinforced here and continue building forward.
